Treasurer’s Report-

Chamber Report:

• Holiday Parade November 11
• Golf Outing August 16
• Need volunteers for Ambassadors- see Bruce Nelson
• Business after Hours:
  • Aug 18- Beckets
  • Sept 8- Fratellos
• Looking for nominations for Small Business of the year and Woman of Achievement
• Habitat Resale Store opening August 6 ( in old Ben Franklin store on Koeller)
• Community Brand Launch- Aug 19- at Convention Center

New Business:

• October meeting will be held at La Sures at 7:30AM
• Economic Insights- given by Greg Pierce- from Reinhart Partners, Inc
• Topic:  legislation that has passed and is pending, and how it affect business
• Postcards will be sent

Guest Speakers:  Dr. Don Viegert- Oshkosh Area School District Superintendent

• Background
  • Grew up in Central Wisconsin
  • Worked in Wausau/Merrill/DC Everest area
  • Has 3 sons
  • very involved in athletic with his children
  • Enjoys the outdoors- hiking, backpacking
  • Has restored a couple of old john Deere Tractors
• Excited to be in Oshkosh
• People have been very welcoming and helpful
• As of Aug 4- board approved the last of the administrative openings
• Has filled 16 positions (about 1/3 of administration- includes principals)
• 15-20 year plan
  • what to do strategically
  • what does Oshkosh want for the future
  • prepare our children for the global economy
  • leadership development
  • have an engaged community
• need quality plans
  • do it at a pace the organization and the community can handle and accept
