Treasurer’s Report

• Balance of $6499.44
• 47 paid  members
• received $175.00 in dues

Chamber Report:

• Trip to China-
  • Doing business in China
  • 9 day trip Spring of 2010
  • Information session Sept 16 @ Hilton Garden  5PM
• Sept 30 is end of fiscal year for Chamber
• Jim Macy is incoming Chairman
• Oct 8- Operation Thank You
• Nov 9- annual Meeting
• 2^nd phase of Vision Oshkosh- branding phrase

Director’s Meeting:

• Survey project
  • Met with CCP- Professor at UWO will take on the project
• Grand Opera House
  • Majority of members in favor of a donation
  • Exec committee will discuss and bring it back to the membership in Oct.

Guest Speaker:  Congressman Tom Petri

• 30 years in Congress
• serves on Transportation Committee
  • finally seeing more money coming back to state than paying in
• serves on Aviation Committee
• Health Care
  • Concern for Senior Citizens
  • Wisconsin has good health care
  • National plans will have a negative impact on some of WI programs
  • Large companies could drop their coverage and pay 8% of payroll (most now average 12%-15%)
  • Individuals could pay 25-2.5% of their wage (on $40,000 - $1000.00) they would drop insurance and take this option- would create problems
  • Even it passes- would be several years before it would take effect
  • 66%-85% against the plan at town meetings
• Social Security
  • Government has been using it as a stream of revenue
  • Looking for new stream of revenue
