Welcome to the West Side Association

The West Side Association was established in 1981 by a group of businessmen in an effort to keep abreast of the development efforts that were emerging along the Highway 41 corridor. Over the years, the goal and objective of the organization has expanded to assist and encourage the growth and promotion of West Side businesses, and to advance the interest, welfare and development of the greater Oshkosh Community.

The geographic definition of “West Side” has also expanded over the years. Initially, it included the area west of Sawyer St, but as Oshkosh’s business community has grown, WSA moved that western boundary further east, to include businesses on Knapp and Ohio Streets. Finally, a loose interpretation of “west side” now includes not only businesses that are physically located in that area, but also companies that conduct business on the west side of Oshkosh. Which means just about anyone with an interest in the growth and development of Oshkosh’s commercial highway corridor is eligible for membership in West Side Association.

Additionally, the group demographics have changed drastically from its origins, and now include a growing number of female members.

WSA is affiliated with the Oshkosh Chamber and was awarded a 25-year plaque at the 2006 Chamber Annual Meeting.

Active Community Involvement
The West Side Association has played an active part with the City of Oshkosh, Winnebago County and the State of Wisconsin to keep our membership and the public informed about upcoming street and highway projects that impact both businesses and residents. We regularly host update meetings on road construction projects, such as the Highway 21/41 Project, Highway 21 West Project, and the West Side Arterial Project, providing maps, signs and an opportunity to discuss project details with the principal planners.

In the past, the West Side Association has combined its efforts with the City of Oshkosh to improve Washburn and Koeller Street frontage roads, install new traffic signals, enhance highway beautification along Hwy 41, and provide new pedestrian walkways.

The West Side Association has representation on the Governmental Affairs Committee as well as the Legislative Review Board; representation at WI Department of Transportation meetings; representation on OCDC and Chamber boards.
